As Jockey Chand Mohd could not fulfill his riding engagement due to compassionate grounds, hence permission was granted to Trainer K P Singh to substitute Jockey Aqeed Waheed to ride DOUBLE VICTORY in place of Jockey Chand Mohd the declared rider.
Jockey G S Shekhawat the rider of BACHELOR BOY was fined Rs.3000/- for not sufficiently persevering with his mount in the initial stages of the race and in the last 400 mts of the race.
Trainer S Ali Khan was called in and questioned regarding the running and riding of AL SAHAIL. The trainer stated that :-
i) He had instructed the jockey to position 5th/6th and do his best on entering the straight.
ii) He was quite satisfied with the jockeys riding.
Jockey Mohanlal corroborating the trainer’s instructions stated that he has ridden according to the trainers instructions and his mount did not respond to his urgings. Not being satisfied with their explanations they were reported to the Stewards. The Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed trainer S Ali Khan and Jockey Mohanlal. After hearing their statements, considering the opinion expressed by the Stipendiary Steward and after due deliberations they decided to:-
a) Trainer S Ali fined 5000/- unsatisfactory running of his charge AL SAHAIL in the above race.
b) Fine Jockey Mohanlal a sum of 10,000/- not preserving with his mount.
c) Severely warned for improper behavior during the course of enquiry.
Trainer and the Jockey were advised of their Right of Appeal.
Trainer H A Khan and Jockey Bhanu Pratap Singh were called in and questioned regarding the running and riding of ASHWA KUNDAN. Trainer H A Khan stated that he had instructed the jockey go to front, if not possible then to position 2nd/3rd and do his best on entering the straight and win the race. Jockey on corroborating the trainers instructions stated as he was drawn 12 hence he could not follow the trainers instructions and also the horse was not responding to his urgings. When he was specifically asked the reason for shifting out very wide approaching the 400 mts he stated that he had no place in front of him to ride out, hence he shifted out to get a clear run. However, not being satisfied with the Jockeys explanation tendered he was fined Rs.3000/- for shifting the course approaching 400 mts for no apparent reason. He was further informed that repetition of similar manner of riding would entail him being reported to the Stewards for disciplinary action. The horse was impounded for veterinary examination and the Club’s Veterinary Officer reported no apparent abnormality.
Trainer S H Abbas and Jockey Narain Singh were called in and questioned the inconsistent and improved performance of MY GLORIA the winner of the above race as compared to its last run in Race No.205 THE ACT IN TIME PLATE.DIV.II. A HANDICAP FOR INDIAN HORSES RATED 20-46 (ABOUT)1000 METRES on 23.2.2016 where it was unplaced. Trainer stated that he had instructed the jockey to take a good jump and get into striking position and do his best on entering the straight and win the race. He further stated that in its last outing Jockey had lost his reins in the initial stages of the race and he was fined for not sufficiently preserving in the race which was recorded in the racing incident. In view of the above the jockey was clearly instructed to be cautious at the starting gate and ride out his mount. While noting down the explanations the trainer and Jockey were informed that since incident has been recorded a benefit of doubt was given in this instance.
Urine sample was taken from the winner MY GLORIA in the presence of Trainer S H Abbas and was sent for analytical test.
