Permission was granted to Trainer Mr. J Sharavanan to withdraw TRIUMPHANT on veterinary grounds as it was observed to be trotting lame on left hind due to hoof injury. He was informed that he must produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before accepting with it again.
As Jockey Sahanawaz, the declared rider of PREMIER ACE, was certified medically unfit to ride after the Third Race, permission was granted to Trainer Mr. Ranjeet Shinde to substitute Jockey Md. Sameer to ride PREMIER ACE in place of the declared rider.
After all the runners were loaded, PREMIER ACE (Md. Sameer – Drawn 2) was extremely fractious and was very unruly inside the Gates and the rider was dislodged from his mount. As reported by the starter, arising out of this, the gates got opened by itself before the start was effected. Further, RUTHBA (Shivnath Paswan – Drawn 3) also reared up inside the Gates and then jumped out riderless. Considering that a fair start has not been effected, the Starter declared a False Start and ordered the riders by means of a recall flag, to return to the Post.
Meanwhile, the two horses, viz., PREMIER ACE and RUTHBA ran round the course riderless and hence were withdrawn before coming under Starters Orders and the Race was started with the remainder of the runners.
Jockey V R Jagdeesh, the rider of PORT BLAIR, reported that his mount was hanging 'in' very badly in the straight, whereby, he had a great difficulty in maintaining an even course. The horse was impounded for veterinary examination, but, no abnormality was reported; However, Trainer Mr. P C Tejaswi was informed to take appropriate corrective measures before accepting with it again.
Jockey T S Jodha, the rider of EXCELONCE, was fined Rs.3,000/- for the excessive use of the whip on his mount during the Race [first infringement].
Routine Sample was taken for analysis from the winner, ch g PORT BLAIR.
