Soon after jumping out from the gates App Jorawar Singh, the rider of DARK ANGEL, lost his left stirrup iron which he regained approaching the 1000 metre marker.

To avoid running into the heels of DARK ANGEL (App Jorawar Singh) whose jockey had till then not recovered his stirrup iron approaching the 1100 metres CADMAN (S John) shifted ‘inwards’ which resulted in CITY HEIGHTS (Anil Baandal) losing ground when being checked by its rider. Some distance further on GLAMOROUS GLORY (Arman Khan) travelling along the rails shifted ‘outwards’ causing CADMAN to be squeezed between GLAMOUROUS GLORY (Arman Khan) and DIXIE DIAMOND (Shezad Khan). At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Arman Khan was shown the CCTV replay of the race and was reprimanded for shifting ground ‘outwards’ for no apparent reason and when not clear of the other runners.

Jockey Shezad Khan, the rider of DIXIE DIAMOND, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount stated that the gelding was well positioned till entering the straight and thereafter in spite of his urgings his mount failed to accelerate. The Stipendiary Stewards noted his explanation and informed Tr. H S Bath to keep his charge under observation and report ailment, if any. In the final 300 metres of the race MIZUNO (A Ashhad Asbar) making some progress in the middle of the course was denied a clear run due to the crowding of the field.
