Racing Incidents

MONTEVERDI was fractious in its stall.

Jockey A Sandesh, the rider of MONTEVERDI, was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for excessive use of the whip (2nd infringement).

Tr. B Mahesh and Jockey P Surya when afforded an opportunity to explain the running and riding of b g AGOSTINO CARRACCI, the Trainer stated that :-

a) My instructions to jockey P Surya was to take a good jump, take a cover and sit 3rd or 4th and in the straight show the daylight and do your best.

b) In my view the Jockey didn’t improve the horse in the middle stage of the race, he should have improved his position but he didn’t. I am really disappointed the way he rode the gelding.

The Jockey while corroborating the instructions stated that as he was drawn on the outside, he tucked his mount in, in stead of travelling wide all the way, gave it every opportunity and rode his mount out in the final straight.

The Stipendiary Steward not being satisfied with the explanations tendered, decided that the enquiry into the above will be continued.
